BEFORE YOUR JUNGLE TREK

1. What to Pack

Packing the right equipment will help you stay comfortable throughout your jungle adventure. We recommend bringing only the essentials, as you'll be carrying your own daypack during the trek.

• Lightweight T-shirts and long trekking trousers.
• Comfortable hiking shoes or trekking sandals with good grip.
• Extra socks and a change of clothes.
• Light rain jacket or poncho.
• Small backpack (20–30 liters).
• Swimsuit and quick-dry towel for waterfalls and river tubing.
• Hat or cap and sunglasses.
• Eco-friendly sunscreen and insect repellent.
• Reusable water bottle.
• Power bank, camera, and flashlight or headlamp.
• Personal medications and basic first aid items.
• Passport and some cash for personal expenses.

2. Responsible Travel Tips

Help us protect the unique ecosystem of Gunung Leuser National Park by following a few simple eco-friendly practices during your visit.

• Carry a reusable water bottle instead of buying plastic bottles.
• Avoid single-use plastic whenever possible.
• Take all rubbish back with you.
• Do not feed or touch wildlife.
• Keep a respectful distance from orangutans and other animals.
• Stay on designated trekking routes.
• Respect local communities and their traditions.

3. Cash & Payments

Cash is recommended while staying in Bukit Lawang, as many small shops, restaurants, and local businesses do not accept international credit or debit cards.

• Bring enough Indonesian Rupiah for your stay.
• ATMs are available but may occasionally be out of service.
• Money changers can be found in Medan before traveling to Bukit Lawang.

4. Health & Safety

Your safety is our priority. Please make sure you're physically prepared for trekking in a tropical rainforest environment.

• Bring any personal prescription medication.
• Use mosquito repellent throughout the trek.
• Inform us in advance about allergies or medical conditions.
• Carry a small personal first aid kit if preferred.
• Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.

5. Visa & Travel Insurance

Most international visitors can obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Kuala Namu International Airport, depending on their nationality. Please check the latest Indonesian immigration requirements before traveling.
